Born in 2016 out of the collaboration between New York artist Tom Sachs and Nike under the NikeCraft label, the General Purpose Shoe takes its cues directly from moon boots and the deliberately improvised aesthetic of Tom Sachs' space-program-inspired work. Velcro straps, a thick sole and intentionally raw construction make it a silhouette apart in sneaker culture, somewhere between utility footwear and a functional art object.

This "Black Team Royal" colourway dresses the upper in rugged black leather, with Team Royal and Team Orange hits cutting against the white sole and exposed stitching. A darker, easier-to-wear take than the original cream colourways, without losing any of the model's signature modular construction.

Released in a women's version, this General Purpose Shoe keeps all the defining codes of the Tom Sachs x NikeCraft collaboration: adjustable strap closures, a padded collar and a look built more like gear than a conventional sneaker. A pair that's just as sought after by collectors as by anyone after a silhouette that steps outside the usual lineup.
