When Nike introduced the Kobe AD on 22 November 2016, Kobe Bryant had already retired from the NBA. It was the first signature shoe released after his playing career ended, and the Ruthless Precision colourway was among its very first versions. Ten years later, it returns for the first time as part of the Protro programme, which re-releases Kobe models with updated technology.

The Nike Kobe AD Protro keeps the original's design, with a Cool Grey mesh upper stretching across the entire shoe and a white Swoosh, tongue logo and medial supports. The midsole switches between dark grey and white from the medial to the lateral side, a mismatched touch Kobe loved, most famously on the Kobe 8 What The. An iridescent heel counter with a rainbow, oil-slick finish adds the final flourish.

On the performance side, these Kobe basketball shoes for men have been fully reworked. ZoomX foam in the forefoot delivers a lively rebound, while Air Zoom units in the heel soften landings.
