Autry Medalist Low "Automne": white leather warmed up with beige and fig

Long before it became a lifestyle staple, Autry was a piece of Texan sports history. Jim Autry founded the brand in Dallas in 1982, right as tennis, running and aerobics were taking over America. In 1985, Tennis Magazine named the Medalist the best tennis shoe on the market. After years out of the spotlight, the brand was revived in 2019 by Alberto Raengo and his partners, who kept the Medalist's lines untouched. For autumn/winter 2026 it returns in the official White/Fig colourway, which we call "Automne" for its warm, end-of-season tones.

The base is smooth white leather, broken up by beige suede overlays that shape the upper just like an 80s tennis shoe. The heel tab comes in a fig shade leaning towards burgundy, adding the colour accent and carrying the Autry logo. A micro-perforated toe keeps air moving, an embroidered label is stitched to the tongue and the padded collar holds the ankle. Inside, a leather and cotton terry lining and a 2 cm raised leather insole; underneath, a 2.5 to 3.5 cm rubber sole. Flat cotton laces and a branded fabric shoe bag complete the pair.

Three tones, one mood: white for brightness, beige for softness, fig for depth. The palette works naturally with cold-weather colours, from brown corduroy trousers and a camel coat to a burgundy knit or raw denim. Pick up the heel colour with a scarf or a leather belt for an outfit that feels put together without trying. Come spring, the white base takes over again alongside light chinos and a linen shirt.

White leather trainers are everywhere; ones with such a warm hit of colour at the heel are far rarer.
