Adidas Pokémon Handball Spezial "Mewtwo": the terrace classic gets psychic powers

Born in 1979 as an indoor handball shoe, the Handball Spezial became a terrace-culture staple over the decades and has been one of Adidas' most wanted silhouettes in recent years. For Pokémon's 30th anniversary, Adidas Originals used it to celebrate Mewtwo, the lab-created Psychic-type. Mewtwo is the headline act of the anniversary collection, with more dedicated models than any other character: a Samba, a ZX 8000 and this Handball Spezial.

Style code KI8213 comes in the official Ice Lavender / Ice Lavender / Bliss Lilac colourway, a wash of desaturated violets with a pearly finish that mirrors Mewtwo's palette. The low, slim Spezial profile stays intact, but the details set it apart: a tongue patch spotlighting Mewtwo's signature move, custom laces, a heel loop inspired by the Pokémon's design and Poké Ball touches on the lacing. A grippy rubber outsole handles everyday wear.

The icy lavender is easier to style than you might think. Try light or washed denim, wide ecru trousers, a grey marl tracksuit or white joggers. If you want to lean in, add a purple hoodie or a retro football shirt for a pop-culture take on terrace style.

Among the many Handball Spezial colourways out there, this one stands out thanks to its pastel tone and its link to one of the most popular first-generation Pokémon. It is a collector's pair that still works as a daily trainer, which is exactly why it ranks among the most talked-about drops of the collection.

The Adidas Pokémon Handball Spezial "Mewtwo" (KI8213) is available on noirfonce.eu, an official Adidas retailer since 2015, 100% authentic, in EU sizes 40 2/3 to 47 1/3 subject to availability. Fast delivery across Europe, secure checkout and pay-in-instalments options. Choose your size and bring Mewtwo into your rotation.
