Sometimes, releases are not only about what the consumer takes home, but rather about what lingers.
We already broke down the Jordan 1 in collaboration with V.A.A. -the Virgil Abloh Archive- we landed on the fact that the object is never closed. It remains in motion, part of a language that refuses to settle. The shoe is only one fragment.
The rest was waiting at the store.
Our signature orange bag, -recognizable even when others try to cover it up ;)- at first glance like any other. Then the interruptions: holes cut clean through the surface, deliberate, precise. Not damage, but intent. Tags, unnecessary but present, hanging like annotations. And on the side, almost carelessly, almost urgently, the words:
“IN LOVING MEMORY”
Scribbled, not printed. Human, not resolved.
Virgil understood that meaning lives in these gestures: in what’s added, and what’s removed. In the tension between system and instinct. The bag becomes more than packaging. It carries something intangible, something unfinished.
For a moment, the store shifts. It slows. People notice things they usually don’t. The object extends beyond itself, into the space, into the experience, into memory.
“In Loving Memory” doesn’t read like an ending here. It feels like continuation. A quiet insistence that the work, the thinking, the language, still moves.
And maybe that’s the point.
Not to hold onto it, but to carry it forward.
